A BUSINESSMAN CONVICTED UNDER SECTION 12(1)(d) OF THE BUSINESSES REGISTRATION ACT 1956 A petrol station operator, Ghazali bin Husain (‘Ghazali’) was found guilty for committing an offence under Section 12(1)(d) of the Registration of Businesses Act 1956 (‘ROBA 1956’) at the Butterworth Sessions Court, Penang. The charge against Ghazali alleged that he had furnished false information to Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (‘SSM’) in Form C – “Notification of Termination of Registered Business” on 25 June 2012 for a business entity known as Ghazali Petrogas. The offence under Section 12(1)(d) of the ROBA 1956 carries a maximum fine of RM50,000.00 or 2 years imprisonment or both upon conviction. The Sessions Court Judge, Julie Lack Abdullah sentenced Ghazali to pay a fine of RM8,000.00 (in default 3 months imprisonment).
